Link My Ride, the social cycling app, has today rolled out an update seeing multiple new significant features added, in-line with feedback from the cycling community.
Launched in September 2022 by pro cyclist Tom Pidcock and his former teammate Jacques Sauvagnargues, Link My Ride was designed to connect and enable riders, cycling communities and clubs, simplifying the way that group rides are organised. Link My Ride is free to use for riders signing up individually. There’s also a tailored clubs portal which facilitates the management of members and club rides costing £20 per month with the first 90 days for free.
In response to feedback from users, Link My Ride has added a Route Creator feature which provides a new way to discover places to ride. Input preferences such as start point, distance and discipline, and the app will automatically generate multiple looped route options for you to choose from based on local, popular and quiet routes on roads and trails. All routes will be as close as possible to the distance chosen and will take into account whether you’ve selected road, gravel, mountain or mixed terrain. The routes will always start and finish at the same chosen location. Route Creator is currently only available in the UK.
Ride creators can now invite other users to rides. When creating a ride, you’ll have the option to invite followers & friends, or riders that are near the start point of the ride. Users also have the ability to return to a created ride to invite additional users as and when they want to.
The new in-app Messaging feature allows user to user messaging to better connect cyclists. You can message your friends, followers and those who you are following (profile privacy settings dependent). You can compose messages to those you follow and send text, links and GIFs. To ensure privacy and safety, there is also the option to block specific users from messaging you (if required).
Link My Ride has also added the ability to navigate to the start of a planned route (opening in the users preferred maps app). Users who have marked themselves as ‘attending’ a ride have the ability to click on the route start location, opening the map app on their phone to allow easy navigation on the go.
Jacques Sauvagnargues, Co-Founder and CEO of Link My Ride, ‘We are extremely excited to be releasing this new update for Link My Ride. We have had tons of feedback from our user base which has allowed the team to identify and develop a handful of significant new features, including integrations with well-known route planning tools and apps, that we know are going to make connecting and riding with other cyclists easier and even more enjoyable’.
The updated Link My Ride app can be downloaded from your preferred app store here.
